7 Oct 2026 Kampala (Uganda) CNBC Africa.The Capital Markets Authority approves investors within the country to participate ​in Nigeria-headquartered Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s initial public ‌offering (IPO);

6 Oct 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) Anadolu Agency. Japan says it will grant $10m in emergency aid to Djibouti and Yemen amid tensions with Houthis that has forced thousands of Yemenis to flee to Djibouti;

6 Oct 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) Anadolu Agency. International Organization for Migration (IOM) reports that more than 20,000 people have fled Ethiopia and entered Djibouti since 10 September;

6 Oct 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Bloomberg. Singapore-headquartered Trafigura Group and partners have agreed to build a $300m high-voltage transmission line linking Zambia’s power grid to the DRC’s copperbelt;

6 Oct 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Maverick. Kenya confirms its first Ebola case after a Kenyan citizen who had travelled from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) died in Nairobi;

6 Oct 2026 Antananarivo (Madagascar) Engineering News. Madagascar aims to raise up to $5 billion by partnering with the United Kingdom (UK) asset manager Gemcorp Capital Management to fund energy, infrastructure and mining projects in the country;

6 Oct 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) IMF. International Monetary Fund (IMF) reaches a staff-level agreement with Rwanda on the first review of its Extended Credit Facility arrangement, recommending the disbursement of $35.7m;

5 Oct 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Al Jazeera. Prime minister Abiy Ahmed is sworn in for a second five-year term, using the occasion to once again demand access to the Red Sea;

5 Oct 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) CNBC Africa. Capital Markets Authority (CMA) confirms it has approved a short form prospectus for a global depository receipt that will allow eligible Kenyan investors to participate in Nigeria-headquartered Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s initial public offering (IPO);

5 Oct 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) Mining.com. Canada-headquartered Barrick Mining confirms Tanzania has renewed its licences for the North Mara gold mine for 15 years;

5 Sep 2026 Kampala (Uganda) All Africa. The treason trial of opposition politician Kizza Besigye resumes today before the high court in Kampala, with his physical presence still uncertain as he continues to recover from severe health issues;

4 Oct 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) DW. Thousands displaced by the Yemen war flee to Djibouti, mainly arriving in Obock, where at least 4,000 people have arrived in recent weeks;

4 Oct 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) East African. Planning minister Guylain Nyembo says that the DRC has secured $192m for its first population census in 42 years and the second since independence;

4 Oct 2026 Asmara (Eritrea) Daily News Egypt. Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, and Eritrea’s leaders issue the Alamein Joint Declaration, establishing a unified four-nation front to assert exclusive sovereignty over Red Sea governance, defend the territorial integrity of member states, and categorically reject any unilateral measures affecting the Nile River;

4 Oct 2026 Mekelle (Ethiopia) Bloomberg. Ethiopian forces seize control of the airport and other parts of Mekelle, the capital of Tigray Region, as leaders of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) retreat from the city, marking a major turning point in the renewed conflict;

4 Oct 2026 Lamu (Kenya) Business Insider Africa. Iranian-flagged container ship MV Hamouna sets a new record at Kenya’s Port of Lamu after discharging about 5,200 containers in a single call, highlighting the deep-water port’s growing capacity as it prepares to support a planned $16 billion East African refinery;

2 Oct 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. Government data indicates that the number of deaths in DRC’s latest Ebola outbreak has surpassed 4,000, as the worst epidemic in the country’s history resists containment efforts;

2 Oct 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) CNBC Africa. Authorities say thousands of displaced residents at the Ebola-hit Kigonze camp in eastern DRC have fled after soldiers entered the site, raising concerns about Ebola spreading further;

2 Oct 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Daily Nation. Eritrea severs diplomatic ties with Ethiopia, accusing it of “deplorable acts of hostility”, hours after Ethiopia closed its Eritrean embassy over alleged “acts of hostility and belligerence”;

2 Oct 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) Africa Business Commodities. The World Bank’s latest Tanzania Economic Update notes that the country’s economy is projected to grow by 6.1% in 2026 and average 6.5% over the medium term;

1 Oct 2026 Asmara (Eritrea) Al Jazeera. Eritrea says it is breaking diplomatic ties with Ethiopia in response to the expulsion of its diplomats from Ethiopia;

1 Oct 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Business Day. Ethiopia orders the closure of its embassy in Eritrea and declares ten Eritrean diplomats’ persona non grata after accusing Eritrea, Sudan and Egypt of supporting forces allied to the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF);

1 Oct 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Bloomberg. Diplomatic sources say two explosions were heard in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, overnight amid growing unrest in the northern Tigray Region;

1 Oct 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Binance. The World Bank says Kenya needs to lower electricity costs, create a more stable tax environment, and undertake other reforms to attract private-sector investment and create jobs;

1 Oct 2026 Antananarivo (Madagascar) Channel Africa. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) executive board completes the third and fourth reviews of Madagascar’s Extended Credit Facility and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility, approving the immediate release of $155m to Madagascar as the country faces political uncertainty, cyclones and higher global oil prices;

1 Oct 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) Reuters. European Parliament members confirm that Rwanda has held preliminary discussions with some European Union (EU) member states on potentially hosting facilities for migrants transferred from those countries;
