29 Sep 2026 Bujumbura (Burundi) AP News. Presidency spokesperson Nancy Ninette Mutoni says Burundi will accept migrant deportees from the United States (US) but does not provide any details;

29 Sep 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Channel Africa. Authority for the Regulation of Subcontracting in the Private Sector (ARSP) director general Beleshayi Kasanda Ted says the DRC will subject major mining companies to annual audits of subcontracting practices and compliance with local-content requirements from 2027, as authorities step up efforts to increase business for Congolese-owned firms;

29 Sep 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Africanews. Pro-government forces in Ethiopia say they have taken control of the town of Alamata in southern Tigray after days of clashes with rebel forces across multiple fronts;

29 Sep 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Bloomberg. Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote, who is raising funds in Africa’s largest initial public offering for his Nigerian refinery, plans to have shares in a similar facility he’s building in Kenya trade on the Nairobi Stock Exchange;

29 Sep 2026 Lamu(Kenya) Bloomberg. A court orders construction to be paused on Nigeria-headquartered Dangote Group’s oil refinery pending a hearing in October with 133 petitioners, including farmers and locals, claiming they will be deprived of their property rights if the refinery is allowed to proceed;

28 Sep 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. The ruling Union pour la Démocratie et le Progrès Social (UDPS) confirms that a senior party member was beaten to death by residents ⁠of his neighbourhood after taking part in a radio programme to raise awareness about the Ebola outbreak;

28 Sep 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. Government data shows that the number of confirmed Ebola cases in the DRC has risen above 8,000 for the first time in the country’s ongoing outbreak, with 3,901 deaths;

28 Sep 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) France24. Ethiopia’s army chief Birhanu Jula accuses Eritrea and Sudan of backing armed groups fighting federal troops;

27 Sep 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Business Insider Africa. Kenyan and United States (US) forces conducted their first joint defence exercise across the entire Manda Bay military installation, testing how personnel from both countries would respond to threats against a base central to their security cooperation in East Africa;

26 Sep 2026 Bujumbura (Burundi) Channel Africa. International Monetary Fund (IMF) urges Burundi to improve its banking data, statistical controls and financial supervision as the country prepares to implement more advanced international accounting standards;

25 Sep 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Bloomberg. Flights are suspended and internet services disrupted across parts of northern Ethiopia as fighting spreads, with government reporting it has killed 272 rebels, raising fears of a return to the brutal civil war that ended in 2022;

23 Sep 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) Reuters. Ethiopia, Djibouti and Nigeria-headquartered Dangote Group announce plans to build a petroleum pipeline that will connect Ethiopia and Djibouti, as well as two storage facilities;

24 Sep 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. The United States (US) pledges an additional $267m to support efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak in Central Africa, bringing total commitment to $886m;

24 Sep 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Fighting escalates between federal forces and Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) forces along the Tigray–Afar border, with TPLF forces reportedly taking control of Mekelle’s Alula Aba Nega International Airport and abducting federal police personnel;

24 Sep 2026 Antananarivo (Madagascar) L’Express. Russia and Madagascar strengthen educational cooperation through a new agreement between the RussianHouse in Madagascar and Saint Petersburg State University (SPbGU);

24 Sep 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) Bloomberg. Bank of Kigali becomes the first financial institution, as well as the first headquartered in East and Central Africa, to connect to China’s principal cross-border payment network, CIPS, as a direct participant;
