17 Sep 2024 Kigali (Rwanda) CNBC Africa. World Bank forecasts Rwanda’s GDP growth will reach 7.6% between 2024 and 2026;

17 Sep 2024 Kigali (Rwanda) Anadolu Agency. Polls close in the senate election with the final results expected next week;

17 Sep 2024 Kigali (Rwanda) Anadolu Agency. European Union (EU) announces funding of $44m for local manufacturing and equitable access to quality, safe, effective and affordable health products in Rwanda;

17 Sep 2024 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. President Samia Suluhu Hassan calls on foreign diplomats to respect Tanzania’s sovereignty and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, seemingly in response to diplomats’ statements condemning the murder of opposition politician Mohamed Ali Kibao;

16 Sep 2024 Asmara (Eritrea) France24. Israeli media report that the government is recruiting asylum-seekers, mainly from Sudan and Eritrea, for its war efforts against Gaza in return for receiving permanent residency in Israel;

16 Sep 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) Reuters. Finance ministry forecasts in a draft budget that the budget deficit will fall to 3.5% of GDP in the 2025/2026 fiscal year from 4.3% in the current fiscal year;

15 Sep 2024 Kinshasa (DRC) Business Day. A military court sentences 37 defendants, including three United States (US) citizens, to death for their role in the failed coup attempt in May;

15 Sep 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) Business Live. President William Ruto’s chief economic advisor, David Ndii, confirms that Kenya has awarded a $1.3 billion public-private partnership concession to India’s Adani Group and Africa50, a unit of the African Development Bank (AfDB), to build a power transmission line;

14 Sep 2024 Bujumbura (Burundi) Reuters. China confirms it will allow imports of coffee beans from Burundi;

14 Sep 2024 Asmara (Eritrea) Daily News Egypt. Egypt’s General Intelligence Service head Abbas Kamel and foreign affairs minister Badr Abdelatty meets with President Isaias Afwerki to discuss Sudan’s ongoing conflict and the unity of Somalia;

14 Sep 2024 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) has entered into preliminary agreements with UgandaKenya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Zambia to supply them with natural gas through liquefied natural Gas (LNG) and mini LNG pipeline systems;

13 Sep 2024 Kinshasa (DRC) France24. A military court will deliver its verdict today over the alleged May coup attempt, with 51 defendants, including three United States (US) citizens, facing charges;

12 Sep 2024 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) APA News. Somaliland’s foreign affairs minister, Essa Kayd, says the port deal with Ethiopia has been finalised and a formal legal agreement is imminent;

12 Sep 2024 Kampala (Uganda) Reuters. International Monetary Fund (IMF) says the start of commercial crude oil production will increase Uganda’s economic growth to 10.8% in the 2025/2026 financial year;
