9 May 2023 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Ethiopian Human Rights Commission calls on the House of Peoples Representatives to urge the government to give peace a chance before the situation in Amhara Region deteriorates;9 May 2023 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Nation. Alcohol and cigarettes have been spared from tax increases for the first time in five years after the Finance Bill left out the two products from excise duty adjustments, handing manufacturers and consumers a major relief;9 May 2023 Victoria (Seychelles) Seychelles News Agency. Seychelles Maritime Academy launches Sustainable Fisheries Programme for young seafarers;9 May 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Tanzanian coal exports reach a record $223.8m in March as energy supply challenges caused by the war in Ukraine increasingly push consumers to alternative energy sources;4 May 2023 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Federal Government of Ethiopia discloses that the first phase of peace negotiations, conducted in Zanzibar (Tanzania) with the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), has concluded without agreement;4 May 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (Ewura) releases the new fuel cap price increasing retail prices of petrol and diesel imported through the Dar es Salaam port;3 May 2023 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Nation. A petroleum tender hints at the cost of running off-grid power stations by the Kenya Power Company across the country even as oil marketers line up for the supply contracts;3 May 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (Ewura) reports that retail prices of petrol and diesel imported through Dar es Salaam port have increased effective 3 May;3 May 2023 Kampala (Uganda) Eyewitness News.
