5 Mar 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Mining Weekly. President Felix Tshisekedi requests a meeting with United States (US) president Donald Trump to discuss a critical minerals agreement that would give the US exclusive access in exchange for security assistance;

4 Mar 2025 Asmara (Eritrea) Jurist. Amnesty International urges the United Nations Human Rights Council to condemn the forced return of Eritrean refugees to Eritrea, emphasising that they cannot safely return to their home country or live in host nations due to attacks and harassment;

4 Mar 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Amhara Region Disaster Risk Management Commission says it needs 102 billion birr ($704.39m) to respond to the region’s humanitarian crisis due to the ongoing conflict between government forces and the Amhara Fano militia;

4 Mar 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Business Day. Rwanda is reportedly seeking £50m ($64.21m) from the United Kingdom (UK) for their failed asylum deal;

4 Mar 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) News24. Germany reports it will halt all new development aid to Rwanda and is reviewing its existing commitments in response to Rwanda’s involvement in the conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC);

4 Mar 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Reuters. United Nations appeals for $11.2m in funding to support Uganda’s response to an Ebola outbreak that has killed two people as the country’s health budget faces constraints following United States (US) aid cuts;

3 Mar 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) ENA. Budget minister Isman Ibrahim Robleh meets with Ethiopia’s ambassador to Djibouti, Berhanu Tsegaye, to discuss trade and economic cooperation;

3 Mar 2025 Goma (DRC) Radio Okapi. Sources report that M23 rebels raided Ndosho Hospital in Goma on Sunday evening and kidnapped at least 112 people, including health staff;

3 Mar 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) Africa Mining Market. Government offers a mining licence to British Virgin Islands-registered Helium One Global for its Rukwa helium project, the first mining licence for helium to be issued in Tanzania;

3 Mar 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Mining Weekly. Uganda signs its first mining production sharing agreement (PSA) to revive the Kilembe copper and cobalt mine;

2 Mar 2025 Kampala (Uganda) AFP. Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) confirms it has sent soldiers to Mahagi (Ituri Province) in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) at the request of the Congolese army following alleged massacres carried out by rebel group Cooperative for the Development of Congo (CODECO);

1 Mar 2025 Asmara (Eritrea) Egypt Today. President Isaias Afwerki receives Egypt’s foreign affairs minister, Badr Abdelatty, to discuss bilateral relations;

28 Feb 2025 Asmara (Eritrea) Addis Standard. United Nations (UN) Human Rights Office assistance secretary general Ilze Brands-Kehris says that Eritrean Defence Forces (EDF) remain in Tigray Region (Ethiopia) despite the 2022 peace agreement that mandated their withdrawal;

28 Feb 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) The East African. President Paul Kagame replaces National Bank of Rwanda (central bank) governor John Rwangombwa with his deputy, Soraya Hakuziyaremye, after Rwangombwa’s two six-year terms ended on Wednesday;

27 Feb 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) Capital Ethiopia. Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Uganda sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the Djibouti-Ethiopia-South Sudan-Uganda (DESSU) Corridor, which aims to enhance regional integration;

27 Feb 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Business Day. A bomb explosion at an M23 rally in Bukavu (South Kivu Province) kills 11 people and wounds 65 others;

27 Feb 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Reuters. Prime minister Abiy Ahmed will arrive in Mogadishu (Somalia) today to hold talks with Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud;

27 Feb 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) APA News. Tanzania and Malawi conclude the 6th session of the Malawi-Tanzania Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPCC), signing a series of agreements to strengthen relations in health, security, trade and information and communication technologies;

26 Feb 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Times Live. Regional integration state minister James Kabarebe says international sanctions against Rwanda will reduce the incentive for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to engage in peace talks with M23 rebels;

25 Feb 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) AP News. United Kingdom (UK) says it will pause some bilateral aid to Rwanda and impose other diplomatic sanctions over Rwanda’s role in the conflict in eastern DRC;
