14 Jan 2025 Kampala (Uganda) PML DailyState House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) head Colonel Edith Nakalema announces aims to attract Indian investment to correct the imbalance in trade between the nations after meeting members of the Indian Business Forum;

14 Jan 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Bloomberg. Kenya said it is in talks with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to expand a railway line to Uganda and South Sudan, after China cut infrastructure funding to the project.;

14 Jan 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Telecom Review AfricaFrance-headquartered Orange and South Africa-headquartered Vodacom form a partnership to create Build, Own, Operate (BOO) solar-powered mobile base stations across rural DRC to extend coverage in less densely populated areas;

13 Jan 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) Times Live. Prominent activist Maria Sarungi Tsehai reports that she is safe after armed men reportedly kidnapped her in Nairobi (Kenya);

13 Jan 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Reuters. Ugandan military prosecutors added a charge of “treachery”, which carries the death penalty, to the list of violations of military law they say were committed by prominent opposition figure, Kiiza Besigye;

13 Jan 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Al Jazeera. Forces armées da la République démocratique du Congo (FARDC) (DRC armed forces) reports it has recaptured several towns that fell to armed groups in eastern DRC including Ngungu, located near North Kivu provincial capital Goma;

12 Jan 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) eNCA. Former attorney general and public service and human capital development cabinet secretary Justin Muturi speaks on the wave of abductions of young government critics since the protests in June 2024, stating that unknown armed men also abducted his son in June 2024;

12 Jan 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Bloomberg. Ethiopia opened its stock exchange — part of a plan to lure investors to an economy recovering from a civil war — without any brokers and no initial public offering debuts;

11 Jan 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) The Africa Report. Ethiopia and Somalia commit to restoring full diplomatic ties after a year of tensions over Ethiopia’s deal with Somaliland for access to the Red Sea;

9 Jan 2025 Dodoma (Tanzania) The Citizen. Transport minister Makame Mbarawa announces upgrades to the northern railway line as part of a general effort to improve efficiency and infrastructure around Tanga port;

9 Jan 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Barrons. Hundreds protest against illegal mining in eastern DRC where authorities are investigating claims of illicit Chinese mining as South Kivu governor Jean-Jacques Purusi announces the arrest of  three Chinese nationals who had large sums of cash and gold bars in their possession;

9 Jan 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Business Day. Venture capital and private equity principals Africa: The Big Deal report that Kenya attracted the most start-up investments in 2024 with $638m followed by NigeriaEgypt and South Africa;

9 Jan 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Business Day. President Paul Kagame said his country has nothing to do with M23 rebels operating in mineral-rich territories in eastern DRC, and dismissed a United Nations group of experts’ findings that his forces were helping the militia seize territory and mines;
