7 May 2024 Djibouti (Djibouti) The Peninsula. Qatar and Djibouti sign an agreement to enhance collaboration in the tourism sector;

7 May 2024 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) The East African. Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA) says coffee exports earned $835m in revenue over the past nine months;

6 May 2024 Kinshasa (DRC) News24. Southern African Development Community Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (SAMIDRC) says it will conduct an armed operation to reopen humanitarian corridors that the M23 rebels have blocked in North Kivu province;

6 May 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) Reuters. Kenya Airways confirms that its two staff members detained in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have been released, allowing flights to DRC to resume;

6 May 2024 Kigali (Rwanda) SABC News. Former opposition leader Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza files a case before the East African Court of Justice (EACJ) seeking the re-establishment of her civic rights, including the right to stand in the upcoming July election;

6 May 2024 Kigali (Rwanda) Reuters. Finance minister Uzziel Ndagijimana announces the 2024/2025 budget, which increases spending by 11% to RF 5.69 trillion ($4.43 billion);

6 May 2024 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) Xinhua. Tanzania’s 396-kilometre major highway connecting the port city of Dar es Salaam and the southern regions of Lindi and Mtwara is closed until further notice after flash floods the previous day washed away at least four main bridges;

4 May 2024 Kinshasa (DRC) Al Jazeera. Twin bombs kill at least 12 people in two displacement camps near Goma (North Kivu), with the DRC government subsequently accusing Rwanda of being behind the attacks;

4 May 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) Financial Times. Government introduces a series of emergency measures as floods continue to plague the country, killing at least 200 people and displacing more than 160,000;

4 May 2024 Kigali (Rwanda) BBC. United States (US) blames the Rwandan army and M23 rebels for the bombing of displacement camps near Goma (Democratic Republic of Congo);

4 May 2024 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) AP News. Meteorology department says Cyclone Hidaya has significantly weakened as it approaches the coastline but warns residents to remain cautious amid a blackout following heavy rains and strong winds;

3 May 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) BBC. Government orders an evacuation of people living near 179 dams and reservoirs across the country as heavy rains continue across the country;

2 May 2024 Djibouti (Djibouti) Kun. Uzbekistan and Djibouti sign a Joint Communiqué establishing diplomatic relations;

2 May 2024 Asmara (Eritrea) APA News. Eritrea says the United States Department of State 2023 human rights report of the country is slanderous and untrue;

1 May 2024 Bujumbura (Burundi) African Arguments. Heavy rains causes Lake Tanganyika to overflow, displacing thousands of Burundians and submerging parts of Burundi;

1 May 2024 Kinshasa (DRC) BBC. Rubaya spokesman Willy Ngoma says M23 rebels have seized the key coltan mining town;

1 May 2024 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Horn Observer. Somaliland foreign affairs minister Dr Essa Kayd says Somaliland and Ethiopia are close to finalising the agreement that will see Ethiopia establish a naval base along Somaliland’s coastline;

1 May 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) Reuters. Government confirms that floods and landslides have killed 181 people since March;

1 May 2024 Arusha (Tanzania) Daily News. The East African Community (EAC) releases a statement noting that Tanzania and Kenya have successfully resolved a longstanding dispute over the export of poultry and poultry products between the two countries;

30 Apr 2024 Kinshasa (DRC) RFI. French President Emmanuel Macron says Rwanda must end its support for M23 rebels in eastern DRC and withdraw all soldiers from DRC;

30 Apr 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) The Africa Report. Kenya Airways announces it will suspend flights to Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) (DRC) over the detention of two employees by DRC’s military intelligence unit;

30 Apr 2024 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Government says it will no longer issue mining licences to investors who lack comprehensive plans for the value addition of minerals in Tanzania;

30 Apr 2024 Kampala (Uganda) DW. United Kingdom imposes sanctions on three members of Uganda’s parliament over corruption claims, including parliamentary speaker Anita Among;
